Also you can feed animals fodder that is only four days old as well just as nutritious. This seems to be more of an issue when growing wheat can you post some pictures as well if you continue having issues.

Thanks I'll try this next. But I going to use the vinegar first. Do I water the trays with it being covered or do I remove them to water and then put it back on after watering. I hope this works and I can start the fodder. I know my cows like it. I cut off the green part of the biscuit and gave it to them. The seed and root I had to throw away because of the mold it had. At least it didn't all go to waste. Thanks again. I'll check in after the next go around.

Either way is fine I'm sure they will love the root as well once you get the kinks worked out. In Seed Sources there's a Florida seed source with barley if you want to try that as well keep me posted and if you have any other questions please feel free.

i want to use maize what should be the actual humidity and temprature Actually corn sprouts faster in warmer temperatures. We have successfully sprouted it in 58-90 degree temps but the warmer the temp you will have to watch for mold.

Hello to all from Greece... I am a complete rookie to this technology. I am planning to build something on my own covering cows diary. Its really interesting procedure. i need to make a couple of questions. What are the ideal climate conditions (temp, humidity, lighting, watering) for absolute indoor growing barley ? if i try to control that indoor climate, is it possible to get the best growing up, and with no mold ? also, i read a lot about that fresh feed diary for cows...What exactly it can replace from a usual cow diary ? I mean, they say there is profit on reducing the usual feed, what it can replace and gain all the goods from that fress food ?
Thanks a lot V

Hello vpentza!
If you can maintain temperatures between 60-75 this can greatly reduce mold as it needs higher temps and humidity to grow. A lot of dairy farmers have replaced grain with fodder and also the cows will eat less hay but will still need some hay/straw for roughage.

Ok, back to the test lab. LOL It had mold by day 3 with the vinegar soak. I'll try peroxide next. If that doesn't work I'll try tea. Where do you get that. Does health food store sell it. Also I'll the lemon juice in the watering to see if that helps? ?? I'll be back after this batch. I believe the little green person missed our house. No luck yet growing this fodder. Mare

Ok! I tried again!!!!!! Failed again. This time with the bleach I had very little growth, and mold. I wish I could send pic's , but I'm really bad with the tech stuff. I'm going to try it plain again and soak for 2 nights? I'll be back in a week. It really can't be that hard to do this. I saw a youtube using baking soda in the water. I'll try that? Wish me luck!!!!!! I'm not yet giving up!!!!! Beside that all in well with the funny Farm. Reba got 2nd at the fair. And Saralu is still growing. 12 weeks and should be seeing a new calf on the ground. With that it makes 5 to feed. I need this fodder to work. Grains are getting $$$$$$$$$$.. Hope all is well with you!!!! Thanks. Mare

Two nights is to long try overnight. I have tried to get you to message me your address so I can send you some barley for free that I know sprouts well but haven't heard from you. Message me here so that your grain can be eliminated as the mold source. Because your right it shouldn't and isn't that hard! lol Thanks
