Hi I am new to fodder. Is there a way to know how big of a system needed based on per head of cattle. I have 15 cows, various ages and sizes and 1 horse, and would like to set up to feed them this winter. Is that 10-12 lbs of grain per day? How much grain does a tray hold? How do I figure all that out. thanks

They would need to eat 2-3% of their body weight in fodder a day. So if you are sprouting in a 1020 black garden tray these trays will hold about two scoops of soaked grain from a three quart feed scoop. After six days of growing in this tray you should have 10-12 pounds of fodder. Also check out www.fodderfeed.org
